The right curly cut isn’t just about taking off length—it’s about creating shape, balance, and bringing your curls back to life.
All while giving them a little TLC by hydrating them with water and products! ➰
Sometimes, this is more important than removing tons of length.

Thinking about booking your first curly cut? We’d love to help you achieve curls that feel healthier, lighter, and easier to style.

One of the most common requests we hear is:

“Keep as much length as possible.”

Absolutely.

But keeping length isn’t the same as keeping every inch.

When a curl family starts tapering into wispy, frayed ends, those inches aren’t contributing to the shape anymore.

They’re only making the hair look longer.

Healthy curls end with intention.

Not with strands that slowly disappear.

That’s why our goal isn’t to cut more.

It’s to cut exactly what’s needed so you keep as much healthy length as possible.

Happy Friday! ⭐️
Let’s get right into it.
The right diffusing technique can be the difference between defined, bouncy curls and a frizzy, uneven finish. Hovering while diffusing helps preserve your curl pattern, and plopping the curls in the cup itself boosts volume where you want it. Diffusing also reduces the amount of frizz caused by impatient fingers during air drying or rough handling.
It’s also important to use a heat setting that is safe enough for your hair (definitely feel free to utilize that cool shot setting- if the dryer feels too hot it’s probably causing heat damage 🙂‍↕️)

A few extra minutes spent (intentionally) diffusing with your favorite diffuser can really help your curls pop!
Your products matter, but your technique matters just as much if not more. 💕
Let’s clear up one of the biggest misconceptions in the curly hair world. 💎

A round shape, bob, shag, diamond shape, or V-shape describes the result.

A Deva Cut, Rezo Cut, dry cut, or wet cut describes the method.

They’re not interchangeable.

The shape is what you see in the mirror.

The method is simply one way a stylist may choose to get there.

That’s why we spend more time discussing goals, shape, density, and lifestyle than we do discussing cutting methods.

Because at the end of the day, you’re wearing the shape—not the technique.

I’ve never had a curly haircut before—what should I expect as a new client?

At Curls Gone Wild, your first visit is all about education and empowerment. You’ll learn how to wash, style, and care for your curls using the CGW method. If you book a “Discover Your Curls + Shape” service, you’ll also receive a customized dry curl cut designed to enhance your natural texture.

Come with your curls clean, dry, detangled, and styled how you typically wear them. Avoid heavy oils or butters, and don’t arrive with your hair in braids, buns, or ponytails. If you’re unsure how to prep, just text us at (480) 353-8369, and we’ll guide you through it.

No problem! We offer “Discover Your Curls” services with no cutting involved. These sessions focus on product education, styling techniques, and curl maintenance. They’re perfect for clients new to wearing their hair curly or exploring the Curly Girl Method.

Booking is easy—just text us at (480) 353-8369 and we’ll walk you through the process. We’ll help match you with the best stylist and service for your hair type, length, and curl goals.

No. At Curls Gone Wild Salon, we specialize exclusively in curly and naturally textured hair—and we never straighten curls as part of our services. That means no heat styling, blow drying straight, or chemical straightening. Our signature dry cut, known as the CGW Cast / Dry Cut, is performed on clean, dry, and naturally styled curls so we can cut each curl in its natural pattern. If you typically wear your hair straight, we do not recommend this service. Our approach is all about enhancing and celebrating your natural curl pattern, not altering it. If you’re transitioning away from heat styling or just beginning to embrace your curls, we suggest starting with our “Discover Your Curls” session to learn proper care and styling methods tailored to your texture.
